DESCRIPTION:This Academy session teaches attendees how to read construction drawings related to low-voltage systems that support building operations\, safety\, and communication. These systems are increasingly critical in commercial buildings and often require coordination across trades. \nAttendees will learn: \n\n\n\n\nWhat is considered a special system \n\n\nFire alarm systems \n\n\nSecurity systems (CCTV\, card access\, intrusion detection) \n\n\nData/telecom systems (structured cabling\, fiber\, server rooms) \n\n\nAudio/visual systems (PA systems\, digital signage\, conference setups) \n\n\nBuilding automation systems (BAS) \n\n\nNurse call\, intercoms\, and paging (in healthcare or education) \n\n\n\n\nThe Plan Reading series consists of these sessions: \n\n\nOverview and Introduction – 5/19/26 \n\n\nStructural Plans – 6/4/26 \n\n\nCivil Plans – 7/14/26 \n\n\nArchitectural Plans – 8/11/26 \n\n\nMechanical Plans – 9/8/26 \n\n\nPlumbing Plans – 10/20/26 \n\n\nElectrical Plans – 11/10/26 \n\n\nSpecial Systems – 12/15/26 \n\n\nIt is recommended to participate in all Plan Reading classes in-person.
