DESCRIPTION:This Academy session teaches attendees how to read construction drawings related to low-voltage systems that support building operations\, safety\, and communication. These systems are increasingly critical in commercial buildings and often require coordination across trades. \nAttendees will learn: \n\n\n\n\nWhat is considered a special system \n\n\nFire alarm systems \n\n\nSecurity systems (CCTV\, card access\, intrusion detection) \n\n\nData/telecom systems (structured cabling\, fiber\, server rooms) \n\n\nAudio/visual systems (PA systems\, digital signage\, conference setups) \n\n\nBuilding automation systems (BAS) \n\n\nNurse call\, intercoms\, and paging (in healthcare or education) \n\n\n\n\n  \n\nThe Plan Reading series consists of these sessions:\n\nOverview and Introduction\, 10/28/25\nCivil Plans\, 11/18/25\nStructural Plans\, 12/4/25\nArchitectural Plans\, 1/6/26\nMechanical Plans\, 1/27/26\nPlumbing Plans\, 2/17/26\nElectrical Plans\, 3/10/26\nSpecial Systems\, 3/31/26\n\nIt is recommended to participate in all Plan Reading classes in-person. If attending virtually\, you will miss the hands-on activities in this session.\n  \nIf attending virtually\, a link will be sent to you a few days prior to the session.
