This Academy session walks attendees through the lifecycle of the two most common legal proceedings in the construction industry: civil lawsuits and arbitrations. The goal is to equip attendees with a clear understanding of both types of dispute resolution — what they are, how they differ, and what to expect if a dispute arises. Attendees will explore the differences between lawsuits and arbitrations, realistic timelines for each process, and the pros and cons of each approach. The class also covers which disputes must be resolved in court, how to preserve critical evidence, and the major stages of both proceedings — from pleadings, discovery, and trial in lawsuits to panel selection, hearings, and awards in arbitration.
The Academy for Construction Excellence presents an 8-class series for those individuals new to the construction industry – whether new to their career and experienced professionals from other industries. Also invited? Those who need a refresher course! Upon completion of these classes, attendees will have a strong knowledge base, creating confidence, knowing the key players and processes in commercial construction.
