Architectural Plan Reading

Taught by Mandel McDonnell, Architect and Project Executive at Willmeng Construction, this Academy session helps attendees understand how architectural plans communicate the functional and spatial design of a building. Attendees will learn how to interpret design intent, layout, and aesthetics through architectural drawings, define interior and exterior spaces including finishes and fixtures, coordinate architectural plans with structural, MEP, and civil drawings, and recognize the core types of architectural drawings and what each represents.

   2. Structural Plans – 6/4/26

   3. Civil Plans – 7/14/26

   4. Architectural Plans – 8/11/26

   5. Mechanical Plans – 9/8/26

   6. Plumbing Plans – 10/20/26

   7. Electrical Plans – 11/10/26

   8. Special Systems – 12/15/26

It is recommended to participate in all Plan Reading classes in-person. If attending virtually, you will miss the hands-on activities in this session.
