Plan Reading: Architectural Plans

This Academy session teaches attendees the important aspects of how buildings are designed from a functional and spatial perspective.

Attendees will learn:

  • How to communicate the design intent, layout, and aesthetics of a building

  • How to define interior and exterior spaces, finishes, fixtures, and spatial relationships

  • How to coordinate with structural, MEP, and civil plans

  • An introduction to the core architectural drawing types and what each shows

 

The Plan Reading series consists of these sessions:

  1. Overview and Introduction, 10/28/25

  2. Civil Plans, 11/18/25

  3. Structural Plans, 12/4/25

  4. Architectural Plans, 1/6/26

  5. Mechanical Plans, 1/27/26

  6. Plumbing Plans, 2/17/26

  7. Electrical Plans, 3/10/26

  8. Special Systems, 3/31/26

 

It is recommended to participate in all Plan Reading classes in-person. If attending virtually, you will miss the hands-on activities in this session.
