This Electrical Plan Reading Class, taught by Chad Constance (Rosendin), teaches how to interpret drawings that show the building’s power distribution, lighting systems, communications, and fire alarm systems. Attendees learn how to follow circuits, identify equipment and components, and coordinate with other trades.
In this class, attendees review the important aspects of Electrical plans:
- Communicate the design of power, lighting, and low-voltage systems
- Ensure code compliance (NEC), system capacity, and installation accuracy
- Coordinate electrical routing with structural and architectural plans
- Review the types of Electrical Plans:
- Power Plans – show receptacles, panels, equipment connections
- Lighting Plans – show light fixtures, switches, circuits, lighting controls
- One-Line (Single-Line) Diagrams – overview of electrical distribution and panel relationships
- Low Voltage Plans – fire alarm, data, security, intercom systems
- Schedules & Details – fixture types, panelboards, wiring methods
